MA Fire's only real effect on Wall of Elements itself is the 20% damage bonus on burning targets. Lightning front bar will suffer a bit more due to Light Attacks and Single Target direct damage sources being a good chunk of main target damage. The difference I would say is around either 5-6% or 2-3% of the Single Target Damage of a MA Inferno, depending on your front bar staff and also depending on class. Since the availability of Elemental Weapon though basically every magDD can have pretty good uptime on Burning, which is why a flame stuff is never a bad idea unless you're frontbarring a lightning staff (AoE builds: petsorc and melee templars maybe) and no other teammate provides good Burning uptime (likely when in a dungeon group and certain when solo). On top of it, unless you're a magDK and can keep up Burning basically permanently on your own already, the larger the group is the bigger the Burning uptime will be. It's the only blockade that straight-up does extra damage. For solo stuff, it's even the better option I'd say.Ī fire blockade deals extra damage to burning enemies. In dungeon groups, it has some value though. In large trial groups it becomes redundant, and healers will already take care of its uptime. ![]() The main reason for picking a certain element for the backbar (where you use the vMA staff) is that it results in different types of Blockades of Elements, each with their own unique effects.Ī lightning blockade helps you maintain Minor Vulnerability more easily, but that's it. That's true for the frontbar where your spammable is, but not the backbar. Ignore the answer for single target damage.
